COMMENTS FROM THE JUDGES

"Listening to the same story repeatedly in one sitting can be a real chore. However, surprisingly NOT in this competition. Although each contestant took turns to tell the same story and joke, I never have been so entertained, as each contestant brought out their personal interpretation of the story’s characters. I was also bowled over by the interesting and creative intro whipped up by some contestants. One of them was just a Form 1 student! My compliments to ALL contestants!

I only wish that the contestants could have pay more attention to which direction they should face when changing roles. This is critical as it would help enhance the audience’s imagination. A suggestion was raised by a member judge to conduct a Rakugo Introduction Workshop at JLfest prior to the competition, of which I couldn't agree more."
