Workshop Description

"Tanko-bushi" ("Coal Mine Song") is an old Japanese folk song originally sung by coal mine workers in Tagawa city, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. The accompanying dance mimics the movements of coal mining. It is one of the most popular folk dances at Bon Odori Festivals both in Japan and abroad.
